The first screenshots of Thief 4 have surfaced online ahead of its imminent reveal.
Posted on gamesmaniac (via NeoGAF), the screens are supposedly taken from the Xbox 720 release (translation to be verified), meaning the title is running on next-generation hardware. The images themselves depict the main protagonist sneaking around a number of sumptuously-detailed locations.

Thief 4 has been in development for some time now, though until now we’ve seen next to nothing on the game since its official announcement back in May 2009.

This article assumes we know what Thief 4 is, and I know nothing about it. That fact that they announced it in 09 makes me thinks it is vaporware along with FF Versus. If a studio starts development on a console and are so slow they now are going to release on the "next gen console" my expectations of a quality product are pretty low.

I believe it was mentioned in an off handed way, where it may have started pre-production. It's the father of awesome 3-D stealth games. :)
