The head of Sony Computer Entertainment U.K. has said that while PlayStation Vita sales were lagging in the weeks leading up to Christmas, sales ‘absolutely exploded’ at the peak of the holiday season.
Speaking with MCV in regards to PS Vita’s performance during its first year on sale, Fergal Gara said, “Vita really, really responded as we went into Christmas.”
“We had a pre-Christmas lull where sales were quite low. But that absolutely exploded 20-fold from that low-point into the peak of Christmas. That's very encouraging and shows that with the right promotion and software we can light that fire."
On the perception that the handheld’s upcoming release schedule is looking a little thin, Gara said: “It looks bare in terms of what we have announced. The cupboard won’t be bare.”
Elsewhere, Gara touched on the PlayStation 3-exclusive Wonderbook: Book of Spells, admitting it didn’t perform as well as the company had hoped.
PS Vita recently received a price cut in Japan, resulting in a massive sales spike in the country. However, there are currently no plans to lower the cost of the handheld in the U.S. and Europe.
Stay tuned.

How come every region isn't treated the same, come Sony, get your act together and don't let the rest of the world miss out on this price cut

Regional differences are determined by Financial and cultural factors, They probably see the US growth as still positive even without a price drop.
I just wish they'd drop a few more GAMES... well I dont REALLY so much as I dont have the money to buy them right now, but it'd be nice for the people that CAN buy them.
