UPDATE: Roen has published an update saying the Final Fantasy XV listing was a mistake and is taking measures to prevent any future mistakes. What if it wasn't a mistake? Conspiracy!

ORIGINAL: If a recent listing on the site of the Japanese fashion brand Roen is to believed, Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be reborn as the next main entry in Square Enix's mega franchise: Final Fantasy XV.

Square Enix announced Roen's work on the costume design for FF Versus XIII previously in 2008. Now on Roen's biography site, it clearly displays that design work was done for FF XV in 2008 instead.

Many people, myself included, hoped FF Versus XIII would become a main entry in the series, as it certainly looks worthy of being one. Rumors confirming it have popped up before. At the PlayStation 4 unveiling last month, Final Fantasy Brand Director Shinji Hashimoto confirmed a new Final Fantasy game would be shown at E3 2013.

Keep your fingers crossed, Final Fantasy fans and stay tuned to PSU for breaking news on Final Fantasy.

I hope this is true. With them saying that the game is still in development but not showing it I had to believe that it had been moved to the PS4 and Square just couldnt show it. After watching this video I just didnt think that the game could have run as well on the ps3 with everything that Square promised for it. I hope this is what Square-Enix will announce at E3.

This is a great decision on SE's part. I hope this inspires more success for them next generation.

Hmpf.... Well I guess the good news is they wont be able to release a FF16 before this comes out. It's been so long I almost wouldn't have batted an eye if they renamed it FF18. But then again seeing as it's not official yet anything could happen.

Hm. I was expecting Final Fantasy XV to be Hiroyuki Ito's next numbered entry (VI, IX, XII etc.) Whatever... Western developers are passing you by, Square Enix. Either release the game or cancel it already.

Yeah Square messed up only those that blindly follow will praise them right now not only was this generation an epic failure for them. They completely messed this game up badly say what you want, but showcasing a game way back in 2006 only for it to get rebranded and moved to PS4 is a move that will sting for awhile. I don't care how good it might be either. Honestly sad as it may be the only good Square games I'll play this gen are re-releases and possibly Deus Ex Human Revolution and Tomb Raider, and actually when I think about it they are only published by Square if I'm not mistaken so make that None!

A bunch of ridiculous reactionary hate for SE when all they've done wrong is release a few games you didn't like and take a long time to release a game you think you MIGHT like. I can understand calls for boycotts if they're ripping you off with DLC business models that specifically hold content hostage, or over price games that have almost no work or quality control put into them, but SE has done nothing THAT severe. If you want to bash someone who is late to release games or takes for ever developing them you should be burning Blizzard to the ground right now. The FF games still make money even if you didnt like recent installments, reviews have not been over all low for their games, middling at worst. Tomb raider and Deus Ex, despite not being developed by SE, are still part of it's portfolio of games they felt were worth backing for release so you can't seriously say they've lost all ability to see what a decent title is. You don't want to buy a Square game? Fine, but dont try to justify your argument out loud with such blatantly poor excuses for reactions like you're part of the band wagon of blind hate.

As for exclusivity, I doubt it, at this point they'l want to grab every dollar they can manage to pay the costs of the long development cycle. Actually that could even be the reason for renaming it. If the game is known as Versus on the contracts with Sony, renaming the game to 15 would likely remove it from the contract stipulations... but that's just a guess.

It was a mistake. Should update the article, PSU.

"Update: In a blog post, Roen has said the “Final Fantasy 15” listing was a mistake that’s been fixed, and that the staff is taking measures to ensure these types of things do not occur in the future."

     @ Alpha 2

Say what you want, but Square was a utter let down this generation I mean even if you liked FF13 those same people got turned off by the sequel and then a lot of people are saying stop it already with the 3rd one.

It's not only been that game I've played other ones from them this gen and it's just straight crappy. They aren't Capcom with there highway robbery, but even still bad games are just bad. In this case mediocre are just that mediocre.

I don't believe it was a mistake. That's an awfully coincidental mistake to make

This article was well written dead on and well thought of, this is the main and only reason i do not play online, even a game thats rated for everyone, Little Big Planet is hit with this and this is a shame because the younger masses are playing this game, my neice and nephew were playing and while she was waiting for my nephew to pop into where she was someone's character was snatching her up and into their group, i quickly keyed in that she was waiting for her cousin and was not participating in a group setting but waiting for her cousin and they were to explore together, and the party did not care, the flow of profanity and anger simply because he could was ridiculous and wholly unnecessary, as he pulled my neices character any way, i quickly found the buttons needed to get rid of his character, but no sooner had i then the rest of his clan start in., finally i told her i was sorry but this was not the gaming trophies she needed, and after speaking with my sister we both decided because of the vulgarity and disrespectful nature of this new breed of players online was off limits. Yes i'm afraid he is correct, gaming online as we know it has lost its shine as i too remember talking to friends i met through gaming online, we knew each other by name we even from time to time gave advice on diffrent situations, and just had a wonderful time this was before some parents decided to not follow the rules on the gaming levels and what age groups they were intended for, decided to allow the systems to raise their children and not check on what they are buying for their children and what their children are doing with the items they are requesting! I can relate to this article, what this imature breed of gamers have done is managed to alienate comaderies, while bringing in an air of verbal violance that has affected online gaming and if not curbed will ultimately affect sales much sooner than the companies think because eight to sixteen year olds are'nt the ones opening their wallets, i've never seen a game stop close down but two have in my area so far depicting things to come!

@16 Possibly the most longwinded, irrelevant and worthless post I've read in a long time. Either that or im pretty sure you meant to post that in the other story. Either way, stop trolling or pay attention to what you're doing.

If this game really is FF15, I wouldnt be surprised or really care much to be honest. This game, until it releases is absolutely dead to me. We've waited like a good 7 years with like only 3 videos to go on. If a person dying of cancer was told by a doctor that after the operation, the amount of time they have left on earth would be equivalent to average amount of time it takes square to make games, that doctor would be given the nobel peace prize for granting immortality.
