About 25 unannounced indie titles coming to PlayStation, says SCE’s Shahid Ahmad

There are currently around 25 unannounced indie titles currently in development for PlayStation platforms, confirmed Senior Business Development Manager at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, Shahid Kamal Ahmad, in an exclusive interview with PlayStation Universe.

Shahid is well known in the business for his open attitude towards indie developers and his team at Sony actively pursues creative indie developers interested in creating titles for PlayStation platforms.

During the interview, Shahid said that he and his team have been involved in bringing approximately 50 indie titles to PlayStation platforms. Half of those games have been released or announced, meaning there are still around 25 titles that Sony have in the pipeline, which is just the beginning as we head toward the next–generation of Sony consoles.

During the Sony press conference at E3, Adam Boyes, vice president of third-party relations at SCEA also talked of Sony’s efforts to bring indie developers on board and support them.

"You’ve all seen some impressive blockbusters coming to the PS4 in the near future, but as a platform cultivating a wide variety of experiences is critical to our DNA," said Boyes.

"We absolutely love scouring the earth for the most creative and innovative developers."

Among those titles already announced are Red Barrel’s ‘Outlast’, Ragtag Studio’s ‘Ray’s The Dead’ and Young Horses’ ‘Octotodad Dadliest Catch. Shahid wouldn’t talk about which platforms the unannounced 25 indie games will be supported on, but it’s likely to be a mix of PlayStation Vita, PS3 and PlayStation4 titles.

Back in May, PSU wrote an article about Shahid and his fresh approach to the indie scene.
