Hideo Kojima says Metal Gear Solid V will look even better on PS4, Xbox One

Hideo Kojima has revealed that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will look even better than the already-stunning trailer shown off at E3 this week.

Speaking with Polygon, Kojima-san said that the team is pushing the current generation of hardware first before moving on to next-gen tech, which he reckons will be a definite visual leap above what we’ve already seen.

“For this project we were using the PC to build the Fox Engine to create our game. We’re using the current-generation as a [guideline]," he said.

“While we were developing on current-gen, next-gen came long. We’re really trying to reach the peak of the current generation right now — 360, PS3 — and then see how much we can take it up for the next-generation. Once we start going into development for next-generation we’re definitely looking for something better than [what] we have shown today.”

The Metal Gear creator also revealed that Snake’s latest outing is aiming for 60fps, and that it will support smartphone and tablet features.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain stars Big Boss and takes place in the year 1984. Perhaps the biggest shift however is the fact the game will offer an open-world design for players to explore, allowing for a myriad of tactical options to employ in terms of gameplay. Real-time weather effects are also included.
