According to OXM (via EG Italy), Capcom is in the process of rebooting the Dino Crisis franchise and will announce the project later this year.
No further details are known at present, but Capcom hasn’t exactly been forthcoming on the possibility of reviving the action-adventure series in recent years.
In fact, Resident Evil’s Masachika Kawata said last year, “Capcom has obviously never shied away from bringing back our older IPs to new generations, but I do think it’s more important for us to focus on creating new IP as we move forward.”
Dino Crisis first arrived in 1999 for the PlayStation, and spawned a sequel one year later. While the original game played in the more traditional survival horror style as Resident Evil, Dino Crisis 2 upped the action considerably, offering a more action-shooter spin on the series.
The franchise saw a third game released for the Xbox in 2003, though the action moved into outerspace and greatly distanced itself from the narrative of its predecessors. Needless to say, it wasn’t exactly met with glowing reviews, and since then, the series has been on hiatus.
