Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor release date bumped forward

The release date for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor has been brought forward to October 3 in the U.K., publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced.

Based in the same universe as J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Shadow of Mordor takes place in the 60-year gap between The Hobbit and the aforementioned fantasy novels, with players controlling a ranger named Tailon.

The game’s main attraction is the revolutionary Nemesis system, which allows foes to remember your interactions with them and react accordingly when you cross paths again. For example, if you give one Orc a bit of a battering and flee, he’ll be baying for your blood next time around.

Developed by Monolith Productions, Shadow of Mordor was originally due out on October 10, and will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
