Stunning-Looking Horror Game ILL Took Inspiration From Classic Franchises Such As Resident Evil & Silent Hill

Maxim Verehin and Oleg Vdovenko of developer Team Clout have revealed some key inspirations behind the upcoming horror title ILL in a post on the PlayStation Blog, mentioning genre heavyweights such as Resident Evil and Silent Hill.

For the creatures featured in ILL, Vdovenko revealed that the development team looked at a number of classic horror games from the 1970s — 1990s, and mentioned how those films were particularly reliant on practical effects to bring the on-screen monstrosities to life. Meanwhile, Verehin name-dropped key gaming franchises such has Half-Life, Resident Evil and Silent Hill as inspirations for ILL, which has impressed so far with its grotesque enemy designs and sumptuous visuals.

Mostly old horror films from the 1970s to the 1990s. Everything was done with practical effects and quality animatronics. The imperfections were hidden with smart lighting and strong direction.

The game puts a heavy emphasis on gore and realism, with foes able to be blown apart by your various weapons, while their behaviour is unpredictable and can be directly affected by your actions.
