Guerilla Games is being extremely cagey about its future Horizon Zero Dawn DLC plans. The epic action-adventure only launched this week, so it’s no surprise that the developer isn’t yet ready to talk about any future downloadable content.

In a recent interview with Guerrilla Games Lead Concept Artist, Roland Ijzermans, PSLS asked the burning question: “Will Horizon Zero Dawn have any story or side mission DLC?
The developer simply replied: “I’m here to talk about this one and not about future plans.”
One thing is certain: there will be a Horizon Zero Dawn sequel. The fact that we’re not likely to see that for a number of years leaves a big gap that could be filled rather nicely with Horizon Zero Dawn story DLC. With such high review scores and praise from those who have played Horizon Zero Dawn it would be a very wise move by Guerrilla to plug that gap and keep players excited in the build up to the next game.
The fact that the company has never mentioned its plans for an expansion or any form of DLC suggests that it hasn’t entertained the idea pre-launch, but now that Horizon Zero Dawn is out there and reaction is a huge as it is, then surely it’s now a major consideration.
Horizon Zero Dawn did launch with DLC for those who pre-ordered the game, including:
- Nora Machine Trapper Bonus
- Nora Lookout Outfit
- Nora Longshot Bow
Meanwhile, those players who got their hands on the Special Edition received:
- Two resource packs – the Carja Trader Pack and Nora Machine Trapper pack
- Two outfits – the Carja Storm Ranger Outfit and the Banuk Traileblazer Outfit
- Two weapons – the Carja Mighty Bow and the Banuk Culling Bow
Collector’s Edition owners received all of the above, in addition to the Resource Packs – The Banuk Traveler Pack and the Nora Keeper Pack, but already there’s demand by those who have completed the game in week one for extra DLC. Will Guerilla make it happen? We’ll have to wait and see.
