PSP to PS3 HD remakes powered by "PSP Engine"

The engine that will power the upcoming PSP Remaster series, which sees popular PSP gamers remastered in HD for the PlayStation 3, has today been given an official name.

During the Game Tools & Middleware Forum 2011 event in Tokyo, Sony’s Kentaro Suzuki announced the technology as the “PSP Engine,” confirming that it will also pack a number of features including 3D stereoscopic output and the ability to render in high resolutions.

The PSP Remaster series is set to land in Japan first with the launch of Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD and then make its way to other territories later in the year.
