God of War: Ascension gets the thumbs-up from David Jaffe

Eat Sleep Play co-founder David Jaffe has heaped praise on Sony Santa Monica’s upcoming God of War: Ascension following its announcement last month.

Chatting with IGN, Jaffe wasted no time in making it clear he’s impressed by what he’s seen so far.

"I think it looks cool," he said. "It looks like another great, impeccably executed Sony Santa Monica game."

"I think that anger is well deserved for people who have felt that way for certain games, but I think so far — you know what I was Tweeting about was — Sony Santa Monica, and certainly that team, really hasn’t done anything ever to let people down as game developers."

The God of War creator went on to address concerns the game’s campaign may suffer as a result of the inclusion of multiplayer, though didn’t see any evidence of this being the case.

"If it turns out to be the case that the single player is watered down because of it, then I think they have some justification. But I don’t see any evidence of that, and I don’t see evidence of that based on the team they are," said Jaffe.

God of War: Ascension is due out exclusively on PlayStation 3, with a release date yet to be determined. The game acts as a prequel to the series, depicting the events leading up to Kratos becoming the legendary ‘Ghost of Sparta.’
