Tekken Tag 2 stage to remove offensive material

The Saudi Arabia stage featured in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is to be updated in order to remove a potentially offensive Arabic script from the level’s floor.

Namco Bandai confirmed today that the script may be perceived as offensive to Muslims, and as such will be tweaked in a new patch to remove the offending material.

Writing on Twitter, Tekken series boss Katsuhiro Harada commented: “We didn’t know that. We will change stage design data as soon as possible. We couldn’t read that.”

Tekken Tag 2 was released in September for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game features the most extensive fighting roster in the series’ entire history, with over 50 combatants included in the home console version.
