A third instalment in the Borderlands franchise will definitely materialize at some point, developer Gearbox Software has assured fans.
Speaking during an interview with Game Informer, Sean Reardon, Executive Producer on the upcoming Battleborn, commented:
“Borderlands 3 will happen. Well, I mean, asteroids could hit... [but] Gearbox is not leaving Borderlands behind in any sense of the word.
"Everybody will be very excited. We'll be very excited and we'll have learned things through Battleborn and all the other games that come out between here and then. That studio will be all the better. We'll have better ingredients, we'll have better people. All that stuff will exist."
Reardon’s comments come shortly after Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford admitted that he is ‘scared’ by the prospect of Borderlands 3.
Borderlands will return later this year in the shape of The Pre-Sequel, which arrives on PlayStation 3, PC, and Xbox 360.
