Crash Bandicoot and Spyro The Dragon artwork surfaces, but both titles were canned

Digital artist Ryan Harrison has revealed that new Crash Bandicoot and Spyro The Dragon titles were in the works but were cancelled by Activision.

Harrisson knows this because he apparently worked on the artwork for both games and is now displaying his concept art on DeviantArt.

Ryan claims that Crash Bandicoot was canned in May 2013, with work originally starting  in 2012. He says that a new Spyro The Dragon was in development for much longer.
However, Harrison does not go into detail as to why the plug was pulled on both titles, instead claiming that he is still under NDA and at this time simply wants to showcase his art.

Honestly. They wouldn’t share us the detailed reason as to why," he said. "Our projects were fairly young when they were pitched. The Spyro project was much older than the Crash Bandicoot one. The only purpose of posting these were to display my work that I have done and provide interesting ideas that fans might like to see. So any questions outside of artistic inspiration are irrelevant and can not be answered by myself.”

This doesn’t necessarily mean that new games for both popular characters won’t surface at some point in time, but for now, it seems, the doors are closed on two of PlayStation’s most popular characters.
