Sony does not know what has caused PSN outage, says PlayStation Support, but engineers are working on it

A Sony Computer Entertainment spokesperson has said that they do not know why the PlayStation Network is currently down worldwide.

The service went down this morning (BST) with thousands of users kicked out of online games and worldwide reports of server errors.

Though Sony has yet to make an official statement online, a Reddit user has apparently contacted the PlayStation Support Number and was told that their engineers are currently looking into the issue, but right now they do not know why the PSN is offline. When PSU phoned the support line we were greeted with a message: "We’re aware that users are experiencing issues with the network. Our engineers are looking into this, apologies for the inconvenience caused."

Hopefully, we’ll have an official statement soon. You can follow updates as they happen here.
