UPDATE – 8.52pm GMT – Reports of some people getting back online in the U.S. None of our UK staff can still access the Network, but hopefully it won’t be long now.
UPDATE – We’re getting reports from PS3 users that they are having no issues getting online. However, PS4 users still having access problems.
We’re into the second day and the PlayStation Network is still down. The PSN was disrupted on Christmas Day with millions of users unable to connect to the online service.
Though Sony has yet to confirm the cause of the issue, it’s believed to be a distributed-denial-of-service (DDoS) attack by hacking group, Lizard Squad, who has apparently brought down its servers by flooding them with traffic from multiple sources.
Many users were expecting the service to be disrupted for just a few hours, but the PSN has been suffering with issues since Christmas Eve. Sony has issued multiple statements via Twitter to let consumers know it is working hard on the issue.
The latest update was four hours ago.
Our engineers are continuing to work hard to resolve the network issues users have experienced today. Thanks for your continued patience!

Allegedbly, Lizard Squad is claiming that it will stop the DDoS attack if it continues to get more followers on its Twitter account and those of its associates.
