Peter Dinklage was dropped by Bungie as Destiny‘s Ghost as the studio needed to work with someone who was more available than the Game of Thrones star.
Speaking with Game Informer, the game’s Executive Producer, Mark Noseworthy, said that the decision to replace Dinklage with Nolan North wasn’t based on feedback from fans on Dinklage’s performance as Ghost.
"It’s more on the [Hollywood] nonsense side of things," he said. "Dinklage was awesome to work with on Destiny but we just needed to work with someone who is more available. Nolan is a pro, this is his thing."
"We can call him up and say ‘hey, next week can we do this thing we’re doing this internal play test and it would be great to get some Ghost dialogue in there instead of that robot voice that we use,’ and he’s available."
North will record all-new dialogue for Destiny’s The Taken King expansion, and will also re-record all of Dinklage’s previous work from the main game.
The Taken King is due out in September and will retail as a full priced game, something which Bungie recently defended. Check out a trailer for The Taken King here.
