Destiny‘s forthcoming The Taken King expansion is roughly twice the size of the shared-world shooter’s first DLC offering, The Dark Below.
Bungie’s community boss, Eric Osborne, told IGN, "I don’t have any trouble saying that The Taken King is well more than twice as much content as the Dark Below.
“The story’s great, there’s seven Crucible multiplayer maps, there’s three brand-new Strikes, and they’re the best Strikes we’ve delivered to date.
“We’ve got the Dreadnaught, which is not just a big new destination to explore, it’s really deep and layered, there’s tons of little secrets and things you can collect [and] riddles and clues and stories and quests and quest logs and more guns and more gear and exotics."
He added: “We’ve got three revised Strikes that are existing [Destiny Year One] Strikes but with the Taken infused in them to change them up for the first time. We’ve got the [King’s Fall] Raid, we’ve got a bunch of stuff we aren’t talking about but will.”
The Taken King is due out in September for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360. The expansion will launch alongside a limited edition PS4 hardware bundle, which is now available to pre-order if you have the cash spare.
Bungie is replacing Peter Dinklage as the voice of Ghost with Nolan North, who will be re-recording all of Dinklage’s previous voice overs in addition to recording all-new dialogue for the DLC. In addition, the expansion will replace the Light system with a regular experience-based levelling process.
