Sony has yet to slap a price on PlayStation VR, though that hasn’t stopped a number of retailers from weighing in on the subject. A Swiss retailer has today posted up its own listing of the upcoming virtual reality gaming headset, with an accompanying price of 498 swiss francs—that’s about €455/£350.
In addition to the PlayStation VR listing and price, the retailer also has the device down for launch on June 30. This would tie-in with Sony’s previously confirmation that the headset is due out in the first half of 2016, although right now this shouldn’t be taken as anything more than speculation on the retailer’s part.
Previous listings for PlayStation VR have ranged from €499 to a whopping CAD$1,125 on Amazon Canada, although in the latter’s case Sony was quick to deny the site’s listing. The company has previously said that the device will be positioned similarly to that of a new home console.
The subject of PlayStation VR’s price has been a hot topic as of late, with Michael Pachter recently stating his belief that the headset will cost around $400. In addition, Katsuhiro Harada, the producer of the Tekken franchise, reckons PlayStation VR shouldn’t cost more than around $300-400. Sony is expected to undercut Oculus Rift, which was confirmed earlier this week to retail for $599.
PlayStation VR has a number of high-profile titles in the pipeline, with the likes of Tekken 7, Gran Turismo Sport, Dreams, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, and Ace Combat 7 all in development. Sony has confirmed that over 100 games are currently in production for the device.
