Speaking during an interview with Famitsu magazine, the director behind the critically acclaimed PS4-exclusive title Nioh was quizzed on the possibility of a sequel to the action-RPG.
While not outright confirming that a Nioh 2 release is on the horizon, Fumihiko Yasuda said that a follow-up to the original game is definitely under consideration, particularly as Nioh received critical praise in the U.S. and Europe in addition to its native Japan.

Developed by Team Ninja, who are best known for their work on the venerable Ninja Gaiden franchise, Nioh began life more than a decade ago and faced an arduous production cycle that saw multiple revisions of the project, before the studio finally settled on the game we know today. Nioh combines hack-’n-slash combat with RPG elements set against the backdrop of a dark fantasy take on Japan in the year 1600, with players controlling a western Samurai named William.
Nioh was released worldwide in February 2017 and, as mentioned, received high praise from critics, and was a commercial success with over one million copies shipped globally during its first two weeks on sale, with data accumulated from both digital and physical sales.
