In a spate of news that’s sure to be to the chagrin of folks looking for a The Elder Scrolls 6 update, it’s been confirmed by Bethesda’s VP of PR/Marketing Pete Hines that the game is still not in active development.
The news comes following Bethesda’s relatively muted E3 2017 press conference which saw the Maryland-based company double down on its efforts with The Elder Scrolls Online’s new Morrowind expansion as well as rolling out a ‘Creation Club’ that will see paid mods for the likes of Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. And that’s of course neglecting to mention that Skyrim is coming to PS VR, too.
Asked for a response regarding comments made by Bethesda’s Todd Howard last year by YouTube Gaming’s Geoff Keighley, Hines reiterated that Bethesda Game Studios ‘’have [sic] at least two major titles that they are working on before we’re going to get to Elder Scrolls 6.’’
In addition, Hines provides a little more detail by mentioning that work won’t begin until those two projects are completely finished, and that Bethesda Game Studios still has other irons in the fire so to speak, like the Nintendo Switch port of Skyrim.

So, aside from The Evil Within 2 and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus it looks as if Bethesda has one or two surprises up its sleeve, with one rumored to be a game called ‘Starfield’. It’s not surprising either that Bethesda’s in no rush to begin work on Elder Scrolls 6 what with its continued support for The Elder Scrolls Online – in an ideal world that’s where they’d want fans to be rather than clamoring for a new game.
All told, if work hasn’t begun yet you can expect The Elder Scrolls 6 release date to be some time away.
As ever, stay tuned to PSU all through E3 week for the latest and great news in PlayStation.
