iPlayer in works for PS3, says BBC

The BBC has confirmed that the company currently working on a PlayStation 3 version of its popular iPlayer service.

"We’re… working on bringing BBC iPlayer to Sony PS3, but we’re not quite there yet as the PS3 uses a slightly older version of Flash which doesn’t support some of the features used in our media player, and the very promising Flash 9 update now available on PS3 has some compatibility issues," said Anthony Rose, head of Online Media Group for BBC Future & Media Technology.

"Our Flash developers are working on it – stay tuned for updates."

For those out of the loop, iPlayer works as a streaming service allowing users to catch up on the latest BBC TV and Radio shows from the past seven days, and is already compatible with Windows, Mac, Linux, Nintendo Wii and iPhone.
