Capcom’s stylish hack n’ slash adventure series Devil May Cry has shipped a whopping ten million units worldwide since its inception in 2001, the publisher today confirmed.
The latest entry in the franchise, Devil May Cry 4, was released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2008 and has since gone on to shift 2.2 million copies globally. Capcom also revealed that it plans on expanding the franchise into other forms of entertainment, including comic books, novels, action figures and anime.
The original Devil May Cry was released in 2001 exclusively for PlayStation 2, having previously taken the form of an early concept for Resident Evil 4. After a somewhat underwhelming sequel, the series redeemed itself with the pulse pounding Dante’s Awakening in 2005.
