[UPDATE] FIFA 08 demo delayed in Europe

Posted on September 13th, 2007 at 08:21 EDT

EA has confirmed that the FIFA 08 demo, due out on PlayStation Store today, has been delayed in Europe and Australia

The news came in the form of a message board post on the official forums:

"We're sorry to have to tell everyone that the FIFA 08 demo won't be launching in Europe today as was expected. Although the demo is being released in North America there were a couple of issues which we couldn't get ironed out in time to release today despite working through out the night to get these sorted."

Those of you in North America can download the demo right now. It features seven playable teams including AC Milan, America, Barcelona, Bayern Munchen, Manchester United, Marseille and NY Red Bulls.

The demo has also been delayed on Xbox Live.

The popular football/soccer title is due to be released on October 9th in North America and September 28th in Europe, ironically where it's most popular.

Update:

FIFA 08 is in fact available to download on the European PlayStation Store. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Well if your that unhappy with EA, why not stand up to them and not buy the game when they do release it. Really stick it to them and buy PES instead. I bet come release day they will have no problem getting it out in time in Europe cos their profits ride on us Europeans buying it. That will teach the Americans not to f**k around with the Europeans!!!

I'm in the UK and I find that the demos and other updates are not there early in the day on GMT times. Check the US store later tonight.

Hesmanes:

you should be able to create an US account. Create a new log in account on your PS3, have a different email ready that hasn't been used on Playstation before. And when you sign up on PSN, state that you in the US and put in a phoney address. You will need to get the postcode right with the city your saying you live in.

Wow, you people need to calm the heck down.  And whats the reason for calling americans stupid cause we call it soccer?  And the reason the demo got delayed, im sure, is because there are a lot more certification and rights processes in the UK hence the delay on MOST of the demos on PSN.  How old are you richkaos?  12? grow up a little.

THERE'S NO FIFA ON THE EU PS STORE! I live in Europe, and i've checked the damn store. There is no Fifa demo there, and neither in the US Ps Store.

The demo is available, but not worth it - poor framerate, sluggish controls and dodgy graphics.

Plus, all this confusion over whether the demo was or wasn't available just shows that EA haven't got a frickin' clue.

As for the 'football/soccer' argument... it just seems odd to me that America/Australia would rename a game played primarily with the FEET from FOOTball to 'soccer', and name another game FOOTball when the ball is mostly carried or thrown, and rarely kicked. Surely it would make more sense to leave football as FOOTball, and change the name of the other sports?!
