Media Create has just released Japanese hardware sales charts for the week ending October 12, and Edge Magazine has whisked in with an English translation.
It doesn’t make for especially pleasant reading, whatever your choice of platform.
DS Lite: 31,914
PSP: 23,901
Wii: 22,877
360: 7,763
PS2: 6,982
PS3 5,734
Just to put those figures in perspective, the market-leading DS Lite is down a staggering 10,471 sales on last week, while the PlayStation Portable slipped by 2,144. The Xbox 360, surprisingly, proved most resilient, losing a mere 508 sales, while the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2 both dropped by approximately one and a half thousand apiece.
Here’s hoping the winter’s bumper crop of PlayStation releases – White Knight Chronicles and Dissidia: Final Fantasy, anyone? – will power-up Sony’s performance.
