While it does not provide proof of a future without UMDs, it does show Sony’s commitment to a digital future that includes direct rental services.
As reported by Joystiq, the survey talks about subscription services with access to “an extensive existing catalogue of PSP games that can be downloaded.” You’ll be able to download a certain number of games during your subscription period — which at this time could be weekly, monthly, or a longer period of time.
Of course, there will be an associated fee, which is undetermined at this time. The survey asks people to consider how much they would pay for a month’s worth of service, how many PSP games they should have access to, how many new PSP games should be available each month, and how up-to-date the titles should be.
