Amazon’s live-action God of War series is set to make a few changes for its second season, with the roles of Atreus and Thrud set to be recast, according to fresh reports.
Website MP1st has spotted casting calls from May that matched up with the descriptions previously revealed during the casting process for both characters. For the second season, Amazon is looking for actors between the ages of 14 and 17 as opposed to 9 and 12. Recasting Atreus and Thrud is no doubt due to the time jump between God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok.
It was recently confirmed that Ryan Hurst, who was set to portray Kratos in the live action series, is no longer taking part in God of War after suffering an injury on set that could take up to a year to heal. Amazon and Sony had previously revealed that the God of War series will feature Callum Vinson as Atreus, Max Parker (Heimdall), Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (Thor), and Mandy Patinkin (Odin).
Four episodes had been filmed by the time production was paused as a result of Hurst’s injury, with production looking to pick up again in October with plans to completely reshoot the completed episodes with a replacement actor for Kratos.
