God Of War Series Has Found Its Thor And Odin As Ólafur Darri Ólafsson & Mandy Patinkin Join The Cast

Amazon’s God of War series has added two new cast members to its rapidly-swelling cast: Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, who is playing Thor, and Mandy Patinkin as Odin.

Thor, God of Thunder turned up in God of War Ragnoark and was one of the biggest threats to Kratos in terms of sheer strength and power. “A mountain of a man who has weathered many a battle in his time, but whose actions in a war fought long ago now haunt his waking hours,”reads the official character blurb. Keeping his wife and children at arm’s length has only deepened his isolation, but the power (and danger) of the God of Thunder is still there just beneath the surface.

“Odin, the All-Father, is not physically imposing or particularly god-like: but looks can be deceiving,” reads the character description for Odin. The father of Thor is described as “paranoid, manipulative, and dangerous,” seeing as a “formidable antagonist” who is prepared to do “anything to try and prevent Ragnarok, the Norse end of days.”

As previously reported, Ryan Hurst, who portrayed Thor in God of War Ragnoark, is set to play Kratos in the live-action series. The show will begin production in March 2026 in Vancouver, Canada, and will feature Ronald D. Moore as showrunner as well as writers including Matthew Graham, Stephanie Shannon, and Joe Menosky.

The God of War franchise celebrated its 20th anniversary last year, although rumours about a remastered collection featuring Kratos’ original Greek adventures ultimately turned out to be false. Despite this, Sony is believed to be working on a God of War side story set in Greece.
