Sega just made a lot of anime fans’ day by announcing the anime crossover fighting game Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax is heading West this summer for the PlayStation 3 and Vita.
Released in Japan last November, the 2D fighter stars a cast of characters from anime adapted from popular light novels published by ASCII Media Works under the Dengeki Bunko name. Fighting Climax’s roster includes characters from Sword Art Online, Oreimo, A Certain Magical Index, A Certain Scientific Railgun, Shakugan no Shana, Durarara!!, Toradora!, Spice and Wolf and more. Being published by Sega, the game also contains characters from Virtua Fighter and Valkyria Chronicles with all the stages themed after iconic Sega franchises.
Developed by Ecole and French Bread, Fighting Climax plays like a typical 2D fighter: characters can pull off weak, medium, and strong attacks and have the ability to call in assist characters for combos or defensive strikes. A story campaign finds the cast brought together to defeat the villain Zetsumu. A “Dream Duel” mode features over 60 vignettes with cutscenes showing the interaction of characters from the different series.
Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax will be available physically at retail and digitally in North America but only as a digital release in Europe.
