U.K. games publisher Rice Digital announced Steins;Gate 0 will release this year for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita and can be pre-ordered directly now with free worldwide shipping.
Steins;Gate 0 is a midquel to the first Steins;Gate, set in the middle of the original’s true ending path and explores a branching point in the story. Okabe and the other Future Gadget Lab members return and a new character joins Steins;Gate 0’s story of artificial intelligence. A new creation named “Amadeus” debuts and allows characters to interact with the memories of others.
Rice Digital will be attending the London MCM Comic Con this weekend, where fans can stop by and receive a free poster (pictured below) by whispering “El Psy Kongroo” to a booth staff member. More details here.
Well-regarded as one of the greatest visual novels, the first Steins;Gate is a sci-fi mystery followed college students who are able to send text messages the past and change the future. It’s available for PlayStation 3, PS Vita, and PC in the West. An anime adaptation was produced in 2011 and is streaming on Hulu and FUNimation.
Japanese developer 5pb and executive director Chiyomaru Shikura crafted the original Steins;Gate and returned for Steins;Gate 0, which received critical-acclaim (including a Famitsu score of 35/40) after its launch in Japan in December 2015.
