Remember Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) President David Reeves telling the world that there are "no plans" for a PlayStation Portable 2? He wasn’t being entirely accurate, if certain eagle-eyed snoops are to be believed.
"Publishing sources" have told Eurogamer that a successor to the well-muscled handheld is indeed in the works. Excitingly enough, developers are said to be already creating games for the new platform.
Don’t expect the original PSP to disappear under the carpet, though. Those same sources have revealed that a third hardware revision – the PSP-4000 – will make an appearance in late 2009. The PSP2 will be coming "later" – we’ve got our money on summer 2010.
Predictably enough, Sony UK has refused to comment on what it terms rumour and speculation. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for a second analogue stick.
