Sony shoots down PS4 E3 reveal rumors

Sony has moved to flatten recent speculation that the platform holder is gearing up to unveil a successor to the PlayStation 3 at E3 later this year.

Speaking at CES in Las Vegas this week, Kazuo Hirai, Deputy Executive President of Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE), reiterated that the company has no intention of swaying from its continued support of PS3.

“Andy (House) is absolutely right in that we are not making any announcements at E3,” said Hirai. “I’ve always said a 10-year life cycle for PS3, and there is no reason to go away from that.”

Rumors popped up earlier this week via MCV that both Sony and Microsoft are planning on lifting the lid on their respective next-generation machines at E3. Nintendo is expected to reveal full launch details on the Wii U at the event having briefly teased it at last year’s bash.

Stay tuned.
