The Weekend Recap: November 18 – 20, 2011

It’s Sunday evening (or Monday morning, for me anyway), which means it’s time for another Weekend Recap – the weekly summary of the news wasn’t covered over the past weekend.

This week we have patch news, banhammer-ings, and plenty’o’promises.

Multi-platform Skyrim patch due week after Thanksgiving

Pete Hines, vice president of public relations and marketing for Bethesda, has announced that the patch to correct the various issues in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be delivered "the week after T’giving," for which if you’re not American, means somewhere around the 28th of November.

The patch is currently undergoing certification testing by Sony and Microsoft for their respective consoles, with an update coming for PC too. Nothing in the way of what is being changed has been revealed just yet, but we’ll keep you posted.

Banhammer strike again, 1,600 Modern Warfare 3 players caught cheating

Robert Bowling, Infinity Ward’s creative strategist, has gone to Twitter to reveal that over 1,600 players have been permanently banned for cheating in their latest addition to the Call of Duty franchise, Modern Warfare 3.

Bowling tweeted "Any attempt to cheat, hack, or glitch in #MW3 will not be tolerated. 1600+ bans issued. Updates in works. Please cont. to report offenders."

Call of Duty: Elite should be ‘up and running’ by December 1, says Activision

Daniel Suarez, Activision’s vice president of production, has said the firm aims to have Call of Duty: Elite working properly by December 1, following the many number of issues users have experienced with the service since it was launched.

Suarez has asked players to be patient with them while they fix things, saying that fans "kind of have to bear with us while we bring this all back up."

"For us it’s literally ‘give us those couple weeks, we’re giving those to you for free’ and come December 1, the goal is that we’ll have everything up and running.’"

Battlefield 3 to get a ‘significant’ update soon, says DICE

DICE says it has plans to release a "significant" update for Battlefield 3, starting next week on PC and later for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 due to certification requirements.

The patch is said to address issues related to the game’s stability, weapons balancing, squad control functionality, along with some user interface enhancements and overal polish improvements.
