BioWare has announced on Twitter that the next instalment in the Dragon Age and Mass Effect franchise will utilize the Frostbite 3 engine.
“For everyone who’s been asking after the #BF4 reveal, #DA3 and the next Mass Effect are also using Frostbite 3. It’s awesome,” said Aaryn Flynn, general manager at BioWare Edmonton/Montreal.
The tech was unveiled for the first time during GDC earlier this week, powering the superb-looking Battlefield 4.
Dragon Age III: Inquisition is scheduled for release in 2014, though it is unknown what formats the game will arrive on.
Mass Effect 4 – or whatever it may end up being called – is in the early stages of development. No platforms or a projected release date have been announced yet.
Battlefield 4 meanwhile is due out on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 in fall 2013. A next-generation release is also reportedly in the pipeline.
