PS4, Xbox One Assassin’s Creed IV is 60fps ‘at a much higher resolution’ than current-gen

Speaking during an interview with VG247, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’s multiplayer team shed some light on the pirate-themed adventure’s performance on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Design head Tim Browne and director Damien Kieken told the site that next-generation versions of Black Flag boast obvious visual enhancements in comparison to their PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 counterpart.

However, Black Flag benefits from new hardware in more than just aesthetics.

“There are very specific next-gen features which we’re catering for as well, which you won’t have on current gen. Not just graphical improvements, but certain other things as well,” commented Kieken.

Browne was reluctant to divulge any specific details on further PS4 and Xbox One additions, but did confirm that they’ll run at 60FPS “at a much higher resolution” than both PS3 and Xbox 360, which clock in at 30FPS.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is scheduled to ship for PS4 in the U.S. on November 15 and in Europe on November 29. The Xbox One version arrives on November 22, while current-generation versions ship in late October/early November.

Black Flag features the largest game environment in an Assassin’s Creed title to date, offering a massive Caribbean open world to explore packed with quests and loot to plunder. Players assume control of Captain Edward Kenway as he commands his crew on the Jackdaw, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Black Beard and battling Templars across the high seas.
