Rockstar Games today released the official changes that were implemented in this morning’s Grand Theft Auto V 1.03 patch.
Across the board, Grand Theft Auto Online has received vast improvements to what has been a very turbulent side release to the record-breaking launch of GTA V. Along with server connectivity errors, character deletion, loss of money, and loss of overall progress has been commonplace for many players, including much of the staff at PSU, and update 1.03 is set to remedy a major quantity of these issues. Unfortunately, not everything is covered, and Rockstar specifically indicated that purchased cars can still be potentially lost.
Our early report on this content push hinted at the potential for monetary exploits being shut down, but the notes do not specially indicate this fact. Unless it’s a smaller change among a slew of major ones that Rockstar sought to leave without detail, the assumption that a fix to halt manipulating quests for quick means of gaining money online is not yet in place.
With that in mind, Rockstar also issues warning for players to return to GTA V single player when they wish to quit playing for a while, which will force the game to save progress to the servers. This update may cover a lot of ground, but it does not say that it fixes all the issues, so please practice save gaming. PSU can confirm that this method has worked for us, since we lost characters before practicing this habit and we haven’t lost our current characters after doing so. As well, make sure to never retry connecting to the server when prompted. Instead, simply quit to GTA V single player and then return to GTA Online; these extra steps are cumbersome, but they’re temporary and they help avoid debilitating, game-breaking issues.
