2013 is coming to a close and while we’re in the process of celebrating the cream of the crop among this year’s gaming treasures, we’re also looking forward to 2014’s offering in what promises to be a fantastic 12 months for Sony platforms. With this in mind, we put it to our loyal readers to name their Most Anticipated Game of 2014, covering PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita, and you voted in your dozens.
Unsurprisingly, Sony’s next-generation console made up the lion’s share of the games you can’t wait to get your paws on. Needless to say, 2014 is already looking incredibly strong. We have the likes of inFamous: Second Son, The Order: 1886, DriveClub, Destiny, Watch Dogs on the horizon, not to mention some retro delights in the shape of the high-definition re-release of Final Fantasy X/X-2 for the trusty old PS3 and PS Vita, and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX.
That said, only one game came out on top, and while the voting was pretty touch and go for a bit, the PSU community has spoken.
And the winner is….
Sucker Punch’s super-powered action-adventure franchise makes its PS4 debut early next year, and it’s been clear since its announcement in early 2013 that the game is equipped to impress. Introducing a brand new protagonist named Delsin Rowe, Second Son combines dazzling visuals with the same supercharged gameplay the series has become renowned for, with Rowe capable of wielding an assortment of new, devastating powers much like his predecessor, Cole MacGrath. The sprawling city of Seattle, Washington is easily navigated via Delsin’s parkour abilities, and with a new aiming reticule used to improve combat, Second Son looks every bit the quintessential PS4 action title and rightfully takes its place as your most anticipated game of 2014.
