Sony is poised to announce the PlayStation Vita Slim for release in the U.K. and U.S., according to an invitation received by IGN.
The site reports that media are invited to attend a special event next Thursday. It reads: “Following the biggest launch in PlayStation history, join us for an introduction to the slimmest.”
Since PS4 launched only a few months ago, the words ‘slimmest’ can only really refer to the PS Vita Slim, since that has yet to release outside of Japan.
For those unaware, the PS Vita Slim clocks in at 20 per cent thinner than its chunky cousin, and weighs 15 per cent lighter. The device offers 1GB on-board memory and improved battery, plus is available in a wide range of colors such as white, black and pink.
One aspect that hasn’t particularly wowed gamers is the fact it replaces the slick OLED screen with a standard LCD model.
