Despite reports to the contrary emerging this week, it turns out that the next-generation versions of Watch Dogs will in fact run at 900p and 30 frames per second, as confirmed by Ubisoft’s very own blog.
The news comes after several news outlets quoted a PlayStation 4-orientated Watch Dogs advert that confirmed full 1080p/60fps – an advert which subsequently removed any mention of resolution.
Speaking via its blog, the developer said: ‘’On new-gen systems the game will run at 900p on PS4 and 792p on Xbox One, at 30 frames-per-second on both consoles. While some new-gen games now offer native 1080p, Morin says it’s much more important to deliver an amazing next-gen experience than it is to push a few more pixels onto a screen.’’
The news will no doubt be suspect to harsh condemnation from the gaming public, who had been led to believe – until recently – that Ubisoft’s premier hacking title, which saw a delay which lasted nearly seven months, would run at a full resolution. While the PS4 version of the game will run a 900p, Microsoft’s Xbox One will have to put up with resolution as low as 792p.
