PS Vita didn’t get much stage time at E3 as PS4, Project Morpheus were ‘more important’

Sony Computer Entertainment U.K. chief Jim Ryan has suggested that PlayStation Vita wasn’t a top priority in regards to the format holder’s E3 showcase earlier this month.

Speaking with GameReactor, Ryan said that the likes of PlayStation 4 and Project Morpheus were "top of the list" for the Los Angeles-based expo.

"You get an hour and half on the stage, and you’ve got to work out what’s really important to talk about. And obviously PS4, and we also wanted to talk about the innovation stories of PlayStation Now, PlayStation TV and Morpheus. So that stuff was all top of the list,” said Ryan.

"You know we spoke about it in the context of PSTV [earlier in the interview], but let’s not forget that remote play is here and now with PS Vita and it is incredibly well received. The statistics about the way people use remote play with their PS Vita are very strong, and when people do it, it’s not like they try it once and then put the Vita away… they go back and they use remote play on their Vita again and again and again."

The comments come in light of Sony conceding that the handheld is unlikely to receive as many major first-party and third-party titles than we were all hoping for. Instead, the system is clearly being positioned more as a PS4 companion device and a home for indie developers to spread their wings.
