No Man’s Sky features a wealth of unexplored planets and lifeforms that are just waiting to be discovered, but to get the most out of Hello Games’ sprawling space adventure, you’re going to have to manage your resources carefully and come equipped for every situation.
Chief among the most important areas to manage in the game is inventory space, as you don’t want to find yourself running low at crucial moments. As such, PSU has cobbled together a handy guide for adding extra inventory slots to facilitate your mining and exploration across the galaxy.

No Man’s Sky guide – upgrade your No Man’s Sky inventory in 3 easy steps
Step 1 – First of all you’ll need to find a Signal Scanner, which are small structures that shoot a beam of light into the air. Craft a Bypass Chip (done so via your inventory using 10 Iron and 10 Plutonium) to hack the scanner, and select the option to search for Shelters.
Step 2 – Once you’ve searched for the above criteria, you should be taken to a Drop Pod.
Step 3 – Head inside the Drop Pod and you’ll be able to claim Exosuit storage upgrades, which you can purchase. Each one increases your inventory capacity. Note that your first upgrade is free of charge, but you must pay for any additional slots.
No Man’s Sky – how to increase ship inventory
This sadly isn’t quite as simple as buying new slots. In actuality, there’s no proper way to increase ship inventory space without purchasing a new ship; a decidedly more costly method than simply forking out for new inventory space.
You can buy new ships at the space station or trading posts on planets by approaching the ship and pressing square. You’ll also come across crashed ships which you can salvage for free!
Keep in mind that in addition to securing enough funds, you’ll also have to gain enough reputation within a particular race to acquire a new ship.
