Russell spills more Uncharted movie details

Uncharted film director David O. Russell has blown the cobwebs off some fresh details on the adventure flick, stating Nathan Drake’s silver screen debut tells the tale of a “badass” crime family.

Chatting with IGN, Russell likened Drake’s on-screen mob to that of the Sopranos, though noted they possess a distinct “sense of justice.”

"If we take that family dynamic that we have in The Fighter, and put that in terms of a grander stage, with a crime family that metes out justice in the world of art and antiquities," he said, adding, "if you’re the head of a museum, or head of state, you’ve got to deal with them, and they’re badass.

"They’re like the Sopranos in some ways, but they have great taste, and they have a sense of justice."

Russell added that his core decision to adapt the Naughty Dog adventurer is "because it’s centred around a family, and I like the combination of criminals and truth. These guys they’re tough but they’re working on this crazy case, and they can’t do it without truth. I think that’s cool".

When it comes to concerns over the script, however, Russell’s philosophy is decidedly clear cut: “I don’t think you can please everybody,” he commented.

"I want the gamers to be happy. I have total respect for the game. My kid loves playing it, I love playing it. I just want to create a world that takes it to another level, that’s another amazing world that’s more cinematic."

The script’s almost complete, apparently, with Russell promising it’ll be “fantastic.” Fingers crossed, eh?
