With a stony silence from the Bandai Namco camp and concerns that Tekken X Street Fighter, which was first confirmed in 2010, may have been cancelled, it should be a relief to many to hear that development of the Namco-Capcom crossover brawler is definitely still in progress.
Speaking during a Tekken 7 Q&A session at Comic-Con, series producer Katsuhiro Harada confirmed the news, saying:
“It’s still in development, and it is moving forward, but that’s on the development side. So obviously, with all of the products, there’s that special timing that we need for that to have its own spotlight. So on the marketing side, it’s a special situation, but we can say that it hasn’t been cancelled, so please relax."
Tekken X Street Fighter offers a traditional 3D beat-’em-up take on the previous Street Fighter X Tekken effort, using Namco’s own assets and visual template to bring both series together for another all-out punch-up. Still no release window yet, but surely we won’t have to wait too much longer?
