The Last Guardian not canceled, assures Sony

The Last Guardian has not been canceled, platform holder Sony has confirmed.

News comes following reports yesterday that the PlayStation console maker seemingly abandoned its trademark for the long-delayed title in the U.S., after it did not renew it following recent requests.

However, there’s no cause for alarm, as Sony told GameSpot that it "can confirm that the Last Guardian is still in development.”

Sony announced The Last Guardian at E3 2009, and the game was eventually date for holiday 2011. However, creator Fumito Ueda would ultimately leave Sony to work on a freelance basis, and rumors quickly spread that the game had been shelved.

Despite this, Sony has continually denied claims of the game’s cancelation, though it isn’t known yet whether it will be released for PS3 or PS4. More recently, it was confirmed the game is being worked on under “completely new conditions.”

Stay tuned.
