Activision has revealed that it banned some 27,000 Call of Duty accounts over the weekend, which comes in wake of the free trial for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 as well as the launch of the game’s third season.
As statement provided by Activision (via CharlieIntel) reads as follows:
TeamRICOCHET identified and banned over 27,000 accounts over the weekend through a series of upgraded detection systems. The team is progressing on a new set of security updates and anticipates more ban waves to come.

Team Ricochet is Activision’s dedicated anti-cheat measure, which for the past couple of years has been busy weeding out unscrupulous players from the Call of Duty franchise. It also revealed that cheaters may not just be banned temporarily; permanent suspensions are also being dished out, which applies to current or even future game.
