Square Enix finally showed us some more Kingdom Hearts 3 footage after feeding us scraps since its initial announcement.
There is a good look at some new attacks and the use of Disney film Tangled as a setting. In the short sample of gameplay footage we saw Sora unleash several summons and attacks that seem to be based on Disney theme park rides including Pirates of the Carribean and the Magic Teacups. He also briefly rode flying mythological horse Pegasus
Sora is joined by his usual companions Donald and Goofy as they battle Heartless and a huge boss in the shadow of Rapunzel’s tower. You can see it all in the video below.
In addition to the gameplay trailer, Square Enix released a special video message for fans of Kingdom Hearts 3 from Disney’s Academy Award -winning Producer, Roy Conli and Greg Coleman, VP, Worldwide Marketing and Franchise Management for Walt Disney Animation Studios. In the video, Conli and Coleman share their excitement about the announcement and Conli notes, “I think this is going to be an amazing journey for these guys as they get the richness of our story, and the richness of Kingdom Hearts…It’s going to be a phenomenal experience for the game player.”
The trailer also reveals the return of combos and nifty dual-weilding moves in addition to what looked like a rocket launcher on the iconic Keyblade.
What we didn’t see unfortunately was a release date, and the way it was spoken of suggests it may be a little ways off. It will be on PS4 when it eventually does drop.
