Final Fantasy XV release date confirmed for 2016, new footage and screenshots surface

During last weekend’s Active Time Report (progress reports Square-Enix has been releasing on a regular basis) from PAX Prime, Director, Hajime Tabata made the announcement that Final Fantasy XV is due for a 2016 release on PlayStation 4. They also included screenshots and concept art for the huge open world being created and footage of the gameplay with the most impressive graphics to date. The previous single player Final Fantasy games in the series have become more and more linear and didn’t incorporate much world exploration or interaction. It’s so exciting to see they’re taking it in a different direction in that regard.

Here’s a video of ATR Snapshot, a new program that summarized the information from the PAX Prime Announcement if you don’t have the time to watch all of the other videos.
