Star Wars Battlefront will reportedly feature iconic characters such as Han Solo, Emperor Palpatine and Princess Leia, according to files discovered within the depths of the PC beta client.
The characters are apparently an extention of the existing ‘Hero’ units within DICE’s hotly anticipated science-fiction shooter, and joins previously confirmed heroes including Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and Boba Fett. In addition, there also appears to be a reference to something called ‘Hero Battle,’ which is presumably a type of game mode that pits all the above characters together for a massive battle. Hero Hunt is also mentioned in the files. Nothing has officially been confirmed yet, so take this with a pinch of salt until we hear otherwise.
Star Wars Battlefront is due out on PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One on November 17. The game’s current build has been reported to run at 900p on Sony’s current-generation console. Unsurprisingly, Battlefront’s launch is in close proximity to the release of the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, which opens in cinemas in December 2015. Battlefront is powered by the Frostbite 3.0 engine, and is positioned as a reboot of the celebrated franchise following an unsuccessful attempt to develop Star Wars Battlefront 3 during the previous console generation.
Star Wars Battlefront is a multiplayer-focused title and as such will not implement a single-player campaign, with players able to compete in massive online battles for up to 40 participants. Battlefront will allow gamers to switch between a first and third-person perspective as they see fit, as you wage war as either a Rebel or Imperial Stormtrooper across several iconic Star Wars locations including Hoth, Endor, Tatooine and Jakku.
