Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) announced today a Game of the Year Edition release of From Software’s acclaimed PlayStation 4 dungeon crawler, Bloodborne.
The re-release of the brutal action-RPG will be released for Sony’s current-generation console on November 25, and includes a copy of Bloodborne alongside the forthcoming DLC pack, The Old Hunters. The latter includes new environments, such as a monolithic clock tower, plus fresh weapons, outfits, and magic to complement your existing loadout. You’ll need that extra equipment too, as The Old Hunters will feature more enemies to overcome plus a series of new, brutal boss encounters.

Bloodborne was released on PS4 in March and hails from the same studio as the critically acclaimed Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls franchises. In addition to scoring rave reviews from critics, Bloodborne also proved to be a commercial success, selling over two million copies to date and debuting in second place on the U.K. All Format Chart in the process, while performing well across the pond, too. In fact, Sony has admitted that the game’s success took the platform holder by surprise.
While not technically part of the same series, Bloodborne is seen as a spiritual successor to Demon’s Souls, incorporating many elements from the cult classic PS3 title. Set from a third-person viewpoint, Bloodborne has players controlling a mysterious hero known as The Hunter, who battles a series of grotesque creatures within the gothic-inspired city of Yharnam, the inhabitants of which have fallen victim to a blood-born disease—hence the game’s title. Similar to the ‘Souls’ series, Bloodborne is also known for its brutal difficulty, although some have observed that it isn’t quite as taxing as its spiritual predecessors. The game was previously known under the working title of Project Beast prior to its unveiling at E3 2014.
Bloodborne was directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, who also directed Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls. Despite only serving as Supervisor for the sequel, Miyazaki-san will return to the ‘Souls’ franchise with the upcoming PS4 and Xbox One title, Dark Souls 3 in 2016. Prior to that, he was best known for working on the long-running Armored Core franchise.
