Sony looks set to cut the price of PlayStation 4 in Europe as early as this week, according to a retail brochure spotted by AllGamesBeta.
The ad states that Sony’s current-generation console will drop at a wallet-friendly €349 starting October 21, with an official announcement expected to drop at Paris Games Week later this month, or possibly even sooner than that. Regardless, it’s a move that has been anticipated by industry folk and gamers alike, after the format holder announced price cuts for its flagship console in the U.S. and Japan earlier this fall.

PS4 and Xbox One both launched in November 2013, although to date Sony’s machine has comfortably outsold its leading rival, with over 25 million consoles shipped worldwide to date. Microsoft has not yet divulged an exact sales figure for its flagship home console. In addition to posting strong sales worldwide, PS4 is also tracking faster than the multi-million selling PS2 in the U.K., where it is reported to have outsold Xbox One on a monthly basis since the beginning of 2015.
PS4 launched in Japan in February 2014, and has since gone on to sell over one million units in its home territory. As mentioned, Sony recently announced a price cut for the U.S., reducing the cost of the system by $50. Microsoft’s Phil Spencer recently conceded that Xbox One may not be able to catch up with PS4 given the lead that Sony’s machine has gained since release. Sony will come out all guns blazing in Paris later this month, after it decided to eschew its traditional Gamescom press conference in favour of the taking its lineup to France instead.
If that wasn’t enough, we still have the PlayStation Experience to look forward to later this year, which is scheduled to take place in December in San Francisco.
